Standards-based API's and reusable libraries

We're planning a lot of exciting projects to enhance Silo Publisher and related applications.
With growth comes new challenges for stability, scalability, and long-term maintenance of our own code. Moving toward a more standards based environment is an obvious choice, but one that involves rewriting some of our own applications. Hopefully it's still early in the game for us.

It's better to be deal with it now than later. Already in the past couple weeks, thousands of lines of code were either rewritten or commented to be in alignment with our new libraries.

One great example of this is http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/
If you're a web developer, you should absolutely consider adopting these libraries. Whether you're looking for an easier way to deal with CSS layout issues or wrestling with Javascript and AJAX, the new Yahoo! YUI has lots of great reusable libraries you can use and reuse. Why reinvent the wheel when it's all there for you, ready to be downloaded?
